Our second annual benefit was a big success with over 60 folks participating. We were very happy to have a contingent of young nurse midwives attend and express their interest in obstetric fistula. They are the ones in the photos without gray hair. Thanks to generous donors, our costs were minimal and our proceeds exceeded $4600. We are especially grateful to the family that owns the event barn (the guys huddled around the wooden boats and tools while the women shopped). Friends from Coffee Creek Quilters purchased and served the food, Starbucks provided the coffee, and Adlesheim and Elly’s Vineyards donated the wine. Thanks to ten area fiber artists who framed our women's art quilts, there was furious bidding on their quilts in the silent auction. There is no doubt that they are considered precious pieces of folk art. Our deep thanks to everyone who volunteered, donated, and attended.
